The team's work

As long as it was a question of keeping in touch with a few dozen users of the site, this remained possible for the designers.

Today, there are hundreds of sites. It has become impossible, for example, to ask designers to spend time explaining how to get started with a site supplied by Community Forge.

A site user is perfectly capable of helping a newcomer, just as he was helped himself when he started out.

The time has come to broaden the base of people who, each at their own level and in an area they enjoy, can contribute to the development and support of the tools offered by Community Forge.

Don't hesitate to come and join the team! Here's an overview of the tasks that require the help of volunteers:

  • Managing updates
  • Programming certain APIs
  • Compose a newsletter for local administrators every 3 months, covering software, Community Forge projects and other monetary and local economy initiatives
  • Translators' network
  • Make the helpdesk even easier to use and more useful
  • Test new modules and new versions of Drupal
  • Perform migrations when new versions are released
  • Propose new tutorials
  • Sponsor a young SEL who is starting to use one of our platforms
  • Participate in the accounting team
  • Helping to find funding to expand our activities

This list is not exhaustive: if you think you can help us, please get in touch.

Helpdesk meetings

The helpdesk team, which coordinates the work of Community forge, meets on average twice a month. As the members of the current team live hundreds of miles apart, our meetings are ‘virtual’, and we talk to each other via Discord or Zoom... Some of us worked together for 2 years before we had the opportunity to shake hands and drink together ;-) The subjects of our meetings are many and varied:

  • the development of our sites
  • the problems we face (and their solutions)
  • the organisation and communication of our team
  • wishes expressed by one person or another
  • suggestions for help, but also
  • managing all the administrative and accounting aspects of the association.
